The Portugal star has been in glittering form, beginning the campaign
with a hat-trick against Galatasaray in a 6-1 win en route to notching a
record nine strikes in the group stages, and only failed to find the
net against Bayern Munich in the semi-final first leg.
However, the winger made amends at the Allianz Arena in the return fixture, grabbing two in a 4-0 win over die Roten and surpassing the previous best goals tally of 14 set by Jose Altafini at AC Milan in 1962-63 and matched by Messi in 2011-12.
Ronaldo
now has 68 Champions League goals to his name, one more than Messi, and
is just four behind Raul's overall record of 71 as he continues to set
new standards for European competition.
