Sami Khedira is still hopeful of sealing a move to Arsenal this
summer despite suggestions that the Gunners have given up trying to sign
him.
Khedira looked all but certain to move to the Emirates Stadium two
weeks ago when his agent held talks with the Gunners over a transfer.
However, the deal has since stalled because of the German’s wage
demands, and Arsenal are now apparently looking at other options, including converting Jack Wilshere into a defensive midfielder.
But reports today
suggest the 27-year-old has not given up hope of joining Arsenal and is
still confident of linking up with the club’s contingent of Germany
internationals.
One of those, Lukas Podolski, seemed to confirm the story by telling
reporters in an interview that Khedira knows how good a move to Arsenal
would be.
‘I didn’t have to try to [convince Khedira to join Arsenal],’ he said.
‘Sami knows how much fun he could have with me, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker at Arsenal.’
